“If you’d have told me 2 years ago that I’d be cycling around the world, I would have laughed in your face.

It seems it just takes a large ginger man to knock some self belief into you to give it a go.

I’ve always loved sports, but have never really been much of a cyclist. So why not jump two feet into the deep end and cycle everyday for 16 months? We figured it’s the sort of journey where you get fit on the job anyway…

In all seriousness, I want to show that you don’t have to be an expert to try something new and do cool things. Especially to women who may not be that confident on a bike yet, as that was definitely me!

I think this is going to be the biggest challenge but best experience of my life and I can’t wait to share all my inner thoughts with you all.”

“I’ve been lucky enough to live my childhood dream of playing professional rugby for the last 7 years between Sale Sharks, Connacht Rugby and Jersey Reds.

But it was always my dream to cycle around the world when I retired.

Since finishing, I was looking for the same purpose and challenge that I found in sport, and I now had no excuse not to pull the trigger on this adventure.

I’m also very passionate about being creative and telling stories.
I’m the drummer/songwriter in the band “The Monday Night Club” as well as working full-time as a professional videographer.
I’m so excited to document this entire trip, as we inevitably end up in some ridiculous situations which make for great stories.

I’m very lucky that Lucy is mad enough to come with me and it will really special to tackle the highs and lows together. We’re both very much new to this and can’t wait to take you along for the ride.

Do hard things. They’re good for you.”

Our Why

Annie Booth

In 2013, Annie Booth (Ciaran’s mum) was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, after recently watching her dad pass away from the same cruel condition. Although her life would never be the same again, we have watched her accomplish things she never would have done without her amazing Parkinson’s family.

Through exercise and sport she has found community and hope again, and has travelled around the world educating people about Parkinson’s .
With the help of organisation’s like Sport Parkinson’s, she has brought together 100's of people ( a lot who have never kicked a football before) to give them a sense of belonging and a reason to get active. She even founded the world’s first women’s walking football team and has represented England!

We’re aiming raise £50,000 for Sport Parkinson’s to help them to continue the incredible work they do.

We are massively believers that getting outside and doing hard things is good for you - both physically, mentally and socially.

You don’t need all the experience to have an adventure - just getting started is often the scariest part.

Sport Parkinson’s is an organisation that promotes leading a strong healthy life, despite the harsh realities of living with Parkinson’s and provides access to exercise opportunities to those affected, to alleviate symptoms and connect with the community.

The vision also stands true to the wider community, we all endure hard times in life, be that mentally or physically.
If we can inspire just a handful of people to get outside more and feel good, the saddle sores will be worth it!

We would like to thank Sport Parkinson’s for the unwavering support they’ve shown us.

It is an honour to spread your message around the globe.
